A strenuous, yet very rewarding walk with superb views along Offa's Dyke Path. Don't attempt this cache unless you like walking and are up to a challenge.
Offa's Dyke Path runs for 177 miles roughly along the English / Welsh border. The dyke itself was built by King Offa of Mercia in the 8th century and consists of an 8 metre deep ditch. It's origins are not fully known, though it is thought to have been a line of defence.
Once you're on the ridge the walking is easy and the views are magnificent to all sides. Mountains and valleys to the west, fields and hedgerows to the east. There is a trig point to the south and a couple to the north, all on the path.
The route can easily be adapted to give a days walking making a circular walk or a reasonably quick jaunt from Llanthony Priory. Offa's Dyke Path is well defined and easy to follow and remarkably dry all year round, but having said that, normal mountain walking advice applies. Bring appropriate clothing and equipment.
