The Mountain Expotition Cache is located close to a
Hidden Viewpoint at the Very Top of the Blue Trail. Along the way
you’ll pass through woods, encounter Secret Places, and see very
few people and maybe even spot Wol flying nearby. There are several
places you might park, but Haviland Hollow Rd. is convenient to
allow you to pass the
Four Guards cache, visit our Mountain Expotition, and then
continue to our
Three Mile View cache, passing stage one of the
The Multi-Falls cache along the way.
For the longest time, the Geocachers that visited the 100 Acre
Wood believed that the Blue Trail ended at Nowhere. So, one day,
Pooh and Roo went on An Expotition to discover The Top Of The Blue
Trail and they left a Cache there to mark that spot. Note though
that even Tigger was unable to Bounce directly to the top,
realising that if he took the Blue trail to its Highest Point, he
would then see a blue marker to his right and an unmarked trail
(old blue route) behind him and to his left that would lead to the
cache without the need to bushwhack at all. So too, should you.
(See the waypoints section for additional information).
If you find yourself facing an impossibly steep climb, then you
are heading off the trail either too early (probably) or too late
(unlikely). If you find yourself facing a gentle slope and you are
not at the top of the Blue Trail, then you are most definitely
lost. If you are lost, then consult the trail map. If the trail map
doesn’t help, then listen for the sound of water and follow the
water downstream. If you cannot find the stream, then you are not
in 100 Acre Wood. If you are not in 100 Acre Wood, then we hope you
are at least outdoors and enjoying yourself.
Children, please look after your parents when approaching this
cache as even though it is placed away from the edge, your parents
may trip over something and hurt themselves. If there has been some
recent rain it might get muddy and slippery as well, so please use
caution. This trail can be Very Steep so Expotition Poles would be
advantageous. Please also discourage your parents from attempting
this cache with less than an hour of daylight left as that could
turn into a Very Silly Idea indeed.
This cache contains Many Things of Winnie the Pooh and Friends,
both Classic and Disney. Please try to keep to the young-at-heart
theme. As placed, we left new Toys, Markers, a Pencil Case,
Bookplates, Hand-Warmers, a TB or two, and Lots of other Neat
Stuff. From this cache, continue further along and down the Blue
Trail, past the waterfall, until you meet up with the Red Trail.
You should then turn left, past more waterfalls, and cross the
wooden bridge to your right leading to the Orange Trail which, of
course, involves passing a waterfall. From there it is a short
distance to the Yellow Trail which leads to the
Three Mile View.
The First-To-Find Prize is a new copy of the Winnie the Pooh
paperback and personal coin and signature items which will all be
sent later after we first learn how to spell forthcoming.
This cache also contains a disposable camera for recording your
successful Mountain Expotition. Extra Points will be awarded if you
take your photograph with someone, or something, from 100 Acre
Wood. We will collect the camera and post the pictures as the
camera fills up. Please be sure to cover the cache well, as it is
not far off of the trail and Muggle discovery is possible!
