Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache in the Cold Brook Reserve off County route 517 in Oldwick, Tewksbury township. Park at N 40° 40.460 W 74° 44.967. This is an open area, once known as the Van Doren Farm. The cache should be an easy find and entails a pleasant one mile round trip from parking. Please do not touch the burlap bag hanging near by. Please replace it as you found it.

An open area in Hunterdon without a cache – horrors! Well, we’ll take care of that. This is a baby cache from “And now for something completely different” (GCTDED). Before (or after) setting out on this adventure, be sure to stop in Oldwick and visit the quaint stores. There is poison ivy in the area, so in spring, summer wear long pants. The area of the reserve is leased to a local farmer who is growing corps on the fields. Adjacent to the reserve is the Cold Brook Cottage for which it was named. This cottage was constructed around 1750 by the Kline Family and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The county acquired the reserve in 1982 (information provided by the Cold Brook Reserve Trail Map and Guide). Hunting is allowed in this area at certain times of the year, so wear your blaze orange (although the path we picked should not present any problems).
