Vid mitten av 1800-talet började man bygga en c:a 2 km lång pir som skulle ingå i ett stort hamnbygge på Ölands västkust. 1858 kunde piren invigas men den började snart att slamma igen och efter 15 år togs den ur bruk. Det sägs att den slutligen såldes på auktion för 25 öre och att köparen ångrade sig. Man hade dock med pirbygget skapat en av Ölands finaste fågellokaler. Detta motiverar varningen om stor mugglartäthet under veckorna 19, 20, 21 och 40, 41 och 42.

In the middle of the 19th century people started to build a 2 kilometre long pier that would be part of a big harbour construction on the weatcoast of Öland. In 1858 the pier could be opened but it soon started to get filled with mud again and after 15 years it got out of use. It is said that it finally was sold on an auction for 25 öre and that the buyer regretted the purchase. But the building of the pier created one the Ölands’s finest bird habitat. This motivates a warning about lots of muggles during the weeks 19-21 and 40-42.
