The Project 2010 cache series purpose is to
track the progress of the stadiums to be build or upgrade, this
cache with Loftus Versveld in particular. It will be
interesting to make visual record of this progress.
Hopefully
some more caches will be created at similar sites across the
country, and will all linked together.
There
will be (based on most recent press statements) ten stadiums used
in the Soccer World Cup.
Three
existing stadiums in Gauteng will be upgraded. Soccer City (FNB
stadium), Ellis Park In Johannesburg and Loftus Versveld in
Pretoria. The Royal Bafokeng stadium in North West will be
upgraded, as will be Vodacom Park in Mangaung (Bloemfontain) in the
Free State.
Five
new stadiums will be build or rebuild. In Limpopo, the Peter Mokana
stadium in Polokwane will host the 2010 games. New stadiums will be
build at Mbombela in Mpumalanga, and the Nelson Mandela Metro
(encompassing Port Elizabeth) in the Eastern Cape.
King
Park stadium in Durban will be rebuild for the event, and in the
Western Cape, Cape Town’s Green Point stadium will be
rebuild.
When finding the cache you need to take a
minimum of two photo’s of Loftus Versveld. One from the cache site
and the second from any other angle such as the main entrance.
To the cache. The cache is very close to
the current building activities at Loftus Versveld. As no building
plans nor artists impressions are available the extend to the
upgrades are currently unknown. Currently we placed a micro at the
above coordinates, it is intended to place a small or regular cache
closer to the actual Soccer World Cup once the building operations
are completed.
The area
is available 24/7, but not considered save at night, so
don’t try.
DO
NOT attempt
the cache when there is a function on at the stadium (the hordes
will notice you)
DO
NOT attempt
the cache if the metro police are parked nearby, they will see you
and become suspicious
NOTE:
Due to
the nature of the area, if you linger in a spot the muggles will
investigate when you leave, so do not linger near the cache if you
wait for muggles to
move on. Be carefull not to take it completely off the tree,
just let it hang and retrieve the log. Before replacing (please in
the same spot as found, we do not want it to get missing again),
make sure it is properly shut and that no muggles are
watching.
