Geocache Description:

This cache is situated near Balcombe Village

There is lots of room for parking in the lay-by just north of Balcombe Church. From there walk down the hill. At the bottom of the hill turn right onto the footpath along the private road. You will find the cache about 0.4 miles along this road. Although marked as a footpath, it has always been used as a bridleway, so you may cycle along here.

This private estate road is known locally as the Red Road, I believe because the original surface was made of crushed red brick. You can still see this in some places. It's other name is Boundary Road as it marks the boundary between two country estates. It is a favourite dog walk for the locals as it is always shady and the dogs love paddling in the stream.

If you have time, it is worth making a small diversion to see the mineral springs. Turn right at the first footpath junction along the Red Road, and walk along the boardwalk, for about 50 yards. The spring water bubbles up out of the ground from goodness knows where. It never stops, whatever the weather. Return to the Red Road for the cache.

If you want a circular walk, after visiting the cache, continue along the Red Road and turn right at every footpath sign. This will take you past Woodwards Farm and Balcombe Lake and eventually back to the Red Road past the mineral springs. The whole walk will take you about one hour.

This is the first cache I have hidden, so I thought I would keep it very simple.
