Geocache Description:

A short steepish climb from a popular photo stop – terrific views can therefore usually be expected.

The famous Langdale Pikes being at the very heart of wild Lakeland are a spectacular backdrop to Blea Tarn, which sits between the Greater and Little Langdale valleys. The tarn is accessible only a few hundred metres from a car park by following a well marked footpath.

Lingmoor Fell can be seen on the other side of the tarn, and an enjoyable day can be made from here, taking in both the Langdale valleys and walking around the eight mile circuit of the fell – or conversely take a picnic, nip out of the car, pick up the cache and lie by/paddle in the tarn!! Rhododendrons on the rocky west shore add to the charm – Brown Trout, Perch and Pike in the tarn for you ‘cachers’ of fish [;O]!
