Geocache Description:

Parking can be found in the centre of the village at N49.58.163 W005.12.261

Part of the Cornish Lighthouse series, each cache contains a part co ordinate for the final lighthouse and each cache may be claimed as and when found. Others in the series include GCYK1V GCYK1Y GCYK2A GCYK2D GCYK2M GCYK5A GCYK2T GCYK5H A private lighthouse was built here in 1619 but it proved difficult to collect dues from passing ships so it "shut shop" in 1623! In 1762 Trinity House built a two tower, coal fired station which it leased to a Thomas Fonnerau. The two towers are still at the Lizard (I missed seeing them) Coal fires were replaced by Argand Oil lamps in 1812 and in turn replaced by generated electricity in 1878. The signal continued as two fixed lights till 1903 when the two tower system was stopped and a single flashing light was used. BECAREFUL ON THE HEADLAND CLIFFS AS THEY ARE DANGEROUS PLACES FOR SMALL & LARGE CHILDREN AND DOGS NOT ON LEADS!!!!
