Geocache Description:

After March 10th - You will have to pay at the event. The store will close.

MOGA MMVII

The fourth annual Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure will be held at Mark Twain Lake, Monroe City, Missouri on March 23, 24 and 25, 2007. The event will be the largest of the four year history backed by the Army Corps of Engineers, Mark Twain Lake and the Chamber of Commerce from Monroe City and Mark Twain Lake. This event will feature over 60 permanent caches placed in a terrific recreational area on the lake.

The Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure, MOGA, brings people from all across the Midwest to test their skills at finding hidden treasures. No need to be an expert to enjoy the weekend, lots of expert seekers will be glad to take you out for a hunt.

Mike Griffin, one of the event organizers said, "This year, we will have over 60 permanent caches in the Indian Creek Recreation Area on Mark Twain Lake. This is different from in the past where we have had temporary caches setup. The Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake is welcoming the addition to the area because they know it will bring in cachers from across the Midwest to stay at their beautiful lodges and see this fantastic lake."

The Area:

The Indian Creek Recreation Area is a heavily wooded peninsula on the lake. With just over 4000 acres, this offers a Geocaching paradise. For MOGA 2007, all 4000 acres will be available for the weekend. This includes the group camp area, most of the regular campgrounds, a boat launch, 2 pavilions and an amphitheater.

Little Cachers:

For the little cachers, there are 4 playgrounds. With so much to do, the little ones will stay quite busy. There will also be a kids cache run that will have some nice prizes. The Marina Store will be open on Friday and Saturday, 9:00am - 4:30pm for the event. However, their supplies are limited. There are supplies and stores located just 12 miles away in Monroe City.

Camping

All campsites must be reserved through the Mark Twain ACOE project office by calling (573) 735-4097. Sites will be reserved by them on a first come first served basis. They will give us the sites at 1/2 price. Prices are as follows:

  • Full Hookups - $11.00 per night (This includes Water, Sewer and Electric)

ALL RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY MARCH 16TH, 2007.
