New Moon Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no response to the previous note, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Cache is located across the street from Harding Bird Sanctuary in Red Bank, NJ.

The park is a tiny triangle of land that divides the intersection near the bird sanctuary. It is wooded and the cache is situated such that you should be mostly obscured from view. Still be wary of passing cars, and pedestrians, especially from the neighboring high school. Stealth is imperative for this cache despite its camouflaged surroundings.

Park on one of the nearby side-streets and hike over to the cache site...parking along the major roads and in the school lot during school hours will lead to tickets and trouble.

The New Moon occurs a half a month before/ after every full moon. It is the darkest night of each month, and darkness holds many secrets. Darkness emboldens even creatures usually cautious and timid. Darkness allows mischieve. Perhaps thats the reason behind this small park's current state. The bench seat is covered in graffitti, and the dedication engraving ofa mystery man is damaged...his identification plaque is missing entirely.

Darkness holds many secrets...
The Mystery Man holds the cache...

Enter the park and be stealthy. it won't be hard to find the bench...its the only man-made object in the park.

Face the Mystery Man...

His bench has four legs. Look behind one of the legs and find the cache he possesses. The cache is a magnetic keybox, black as the depths of night. It is not attached to anything magnetic, however. Sign the log quickly, and place it back.

Make sure the muggles haven't caught you in the act...

Retreat back into the light...

Anyone who can put a name to the Mystery Man, please list his ID in your log so he can be remembered as was intended.

For a bigger challenge, try my Full Moon cache in Bradley Beach, NJ. I recommend night caching for that one.

And as always, enjoy!
