A local, all but forgotten folk tale tells about an ancient wizard
who used to live in the area that is nowadays known as Koskenmylly.
He was a kind wizard who was interested in all the living things
around him, humans and animals alike.
He made himself a high tower of stone by magically making it
grow right out of the bedrock. He called his rocky abode The Pillar
of Storgé and there he lived for a thousand years tending to the
needs of those dear to him.
Whence he came, or how and where he departed, is not known. All
that is left now is a strange formation of stone and an eerie
magical atmosphere. As is the case with all legends, this tale may
or may not be true. The stone pillar is an interesting place to
see, though, whether you believe in wizards or not.
Please be careful when climbing onto the tower, especially if
the rocks are wet. It is possible to climb to the top without any
equipment, but a rope might make you feel somewhat safer. The cache
will not get covered by snow, but in the winter the climb is even
more dangerous and shouldn't be performed without safety
equipment.
Paikallinen, lähes unohdettu kansantaru kertoo muinaisesta
velhosta, joka asusteli aikoinaan alueella, jonka nimi on nykyään
Koskenmylly. Hän oli ystävällinen velho, joka oli kiinnostunut
kaikesta elävästa ympärillään, niin eläimistä kuin ihmisistä.
Hän teki itselleen korkean kivisen tornin kasvattamalla sen
taikavoimillaan suoraan peruskalliosta. Hän kutsui kivistä
asumustaan Storgén pilariksi ja siellä hän asui tuhat vuotta
huolehtien läheistensä hyvinvoinnista.
Kukaan ei tiedä mistä velho tuli eikä miten ja mihin hän lähti.
Kaikki mitä on jäänyt jäljelle on omituinen kivimuodostelma ja
kummallisen maaginen ilmapiiri. Kuten kaikki legendat, tämäkin voi
olla tai olla olematta totta. Kivitorni on kuitenkin näkemisen
arvoinen paikka, uskoi sitten velhoihin tai ei.
Olethan varovainen kiivetessäsi torniin, varsinkin jos kivet
ovat märkiä. Huipulle pääsee ilman varusteita, mutta köysi voi
tehdä olosi hieman turvallisemmaksi. Kätkö ei jää lumen alle, mutta
talvella kiipeäminen on vielä vaarallisempaa ja sitä ei pitäisi
tehdä ilman turvavarusteita.
