Foy's Folly Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

mccardey: As noted this area is now pretty well covered with rusty wire. In the interests of tetanus-avoidance and since there are quite a few caches in the area, we're going to retire Foy's Folly (pausing just a moment to raise our glasses to its beloved memory) and reincarnate it in another guise but using the same container and treasures as soon as a spot presents itself.

Many thanks to everyone who passed this way and added to the fun.

Geocache Description:

One for the geo-kids

This is a great one for kids who've behaved nicely all through lunch at the Hydro Majestic....

Drag your parents down the Great Western Highway to Bellevue Cres (just 500 metres east of the Hydro Majestic grand entrance). Walk down towards the valley, just like kids your age have done for generations and keep an eye out for telltale signs of Children Past - the old bus-stop cubby on the right, the remains of a tree house and rope swing on the left. At the rope swing (S33 40.819 E150 16.924) you'll see a service track. Take the right hand fork and you're on your way. You'll be going behind houses, and where there are houses there are muggles, so keep a low profile. When you get to the end of the track, look for a small, overgrown trail to the left.

Our co-ords were only accurate to 10, 15 metres. Don't give up - its there!!

Mark Foy ( just so you know) built the Hydro Majestic in 1903. The Foys also owned Mark Foy's the big shop in Sydney. They were an eccentric bunch who loved to play tricks. They had racehorses called "Yourealiar" and "Youreanother". They're probably worth a school project.
