Having just started work on Harley Street, I was disappointed at
the lack of caches in this area. I walk past this church every day
on my way from the tube and thought it deserved a cache
All Souls church was designed and built by John Nash, who also
developed Regent Street and Regents Park. It was completed in 1823.
The church was severely damaged during the second World war and
didn't reopen until 1951. In 1975-76 major excavation took place
under the church, making use of the very deep foundations Nash had
built. This enabled the creation of a hall underneath the church
itself.
Next door to All Souls is the BBC's Broadcasting House, where
most of the radio shows are recorded. From 1951 to 1994, the BBC
used All Souls to broadcast the Daily Service.
The cache itself is a magnetic nano-container. It contains
nought but a log, so bring a pen - there's no space for swaps. It
should be accessible to those in a wheelchair, as well as kids,
although central London is very busy with traffic, so a close eye
should be kept on small children.
