Located in Resse Park in the Town and Village of Wappingers. Parking at N41*35.563 W073*55.577 This is a 3 Stage multi-cache, two micros followed by a final full size Rubbermaid cache with trade items. The hides are fairly easy and the terrain is somewhat hilly but not bad. Start up paved hill from parking, all stages are only a few feet off of easy path, and if in doubt, bare left at any forks in the path. First stage is now a magnetic micro.
Maintained and replaced Stage 3 (Final) 8-16-2009. IMPORTANT: The rocks at stage 3 are a bit slick form all the rain...BE CAREFUL!!! Not dificult to get to, but watch your step on rocks. Reports show other stages okay. STAGE 2 IS NOW BEHIND PIECES OF WOOD, NOT ROCK.
This is a beautiful park donated to the Town of Wappinger by Frances Reese, a "rock" in the foundation of Scenic Hudson. She was one of the earliest and most influential members of this important environmental group. She helped to organize the group in the early days, and was its chairman for 18 years. Her efforts helped save and preserve thousands of acres for us all to enjoy today, as well as clean the Hudson River of pollution and aid communities in intelligent, more environmentally sound development. She was a powerful voice for our environment until her death in 2003. This multi-cache takes you on a very short tour of just one of the beautiful places she preserved. Take the time to see more of this and her other treasures if you can.
The entire track of this multi-cache should be less than a 15 minute hike at a moderate to easy pace, plus time to find each stage. Total distance is about 7/10ths of a mile. After the last stage just stay on that path in the same direction to get back to the parking area. While none of us or our dogs have gotten ticks in this park, there is a warning posted, so just take the normal precautions. There are two micros followed by a traditional container, which is in a large zip bag as well to help keep stuff dry. The new Stage 3 was hidden 8-15-2009 and ins full of the usual priceless geoschwag. Enjoy!
