Cache and Release 2006 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

shearzone: Thanks again to everyone who participated in CAR2006, to Plato's Pizza for hosting us and a very big THANK YOU to Cache Effect who published so many CAR-caches in such a short period of time. CE's efforts did not go unnoticed. The event was great fun! We should do it again sometime, if that's ok with Cache Effect, of course [;)].

Geocache Description:

Hi folks, welcome to Edmonton’s very first Cache and Release (or CAR for short) event. This event involves hiding a cache during the time leading up to the CAR-event, finding CAR-caches over the designated 24 hour period and then meeting-up to swap CAR-stories.

The hide: Hide a cache or caches between now and Tuesday August 15th. We want to hide them early to give the reviewer enough time to approve the listings. All CAR caches should include a note to the reviewer stating that this is a cache for the CAR event. Also, include CAR2006 in the title (ex. CAR2006 – Found It!) to facilitate searches by keyword. Once approved, CAR caches should not be sought out until 6:00 pm, Friday August 18th.

Note on cache type and size: all cache types are fair game for this event. As for size, if you really want to hide a micro, only one per cacher/group and it must be placed where no other cache size would be appropriate (i.e. high traffic urban areas).

The finds: As of 6:00 pm Friday August 18th, all CAR-caches become fair game to find. At that time, geocachers are free to hunt down as many or as few CAR-caches as they can and want to.

The event: At 6:00 pm Saturday August 19th, we will meet at the posted coordinates. Please post a ‘will attend’ if you intend on appearing at the restaurant and how many will be accompanying you so I can make reservations. The place is kid-friendly, so be sure to bring your side-kicks too!

Parking: Parking is available in the front and in the back of the restaurant.

Furthermore, I think that recognition (and maybe prizes if we can get some?) should be given at the event for the following:
best CAR-hide
best first hide (ever)
most CAR-hides
most CAR-finds
most CAR-FTFs
best non-traditional cache
best CAR-story
most found/visited CAR-cache
best/worst mishap during CAR
most difficult to find/most devious/most DNFs (assuming it is still there, of course)
most original/ingenious hide
best swag
etc.?

Post-CAR: All CAR-caches should be made to be permanent for all to find at their leisure following the event.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate in this event in anyway they can and want. For example, you don't have to hide a cache to find caches, or you can hide a cache even if you will be away that weekend. Or, you can just show up at the restaurant to say hi and have a bite. But, we need some hides for this to work.

If you have any questions, comments or ideas to add to this event, feel free to post them or send them my way.

Happy hiding and seeking!

I created a checklist table of all CAR-caches to keep track of your finds and trades. It looks best if you set the page setup to landscape before sending it the the printer.
