The geocaching challenge begins at 1:00 pm (though you can
arrive and participate any time after 1:00). Your challenge, if you
choose to accept it, is to find ten different geocache containers
hidden in McInnish park just for this event challenge. Simply pick
up a copy of the listed coords for all ten (or more) cache
containers. You will need to sign in with your geocaching name and
the time you start the challenge (I will have an "official
timekeeping device" that will be used, not just anybody's watch).
All ten containers will be hidden somewhere in the park, this one
day only. You must use ultimate stealth in claiming each of these
finds. Each container will have a code that you need to get (it
won't be fair if you share it with anyone else) and return to the
geocaching booth with. Because of the number of geocachers
anticipated at the event, everyone will not need to start the
challenge exactly at 1:00. (Obviously, to keep hunters from
stumbling over each other, it's better if their start is as
staggered as much as possible.) You have to return to the event
table ("Geocaching Booth") by 4:00 pm with ten codes from the
different cache containers to complete the challenge. Best times
win the prize of ... well, you just have to show up to find out
what the prizes are, now, won't you.
You can hunt for the different caches after 4:00 pm, but to be
eligible for any prizes you must be finished and back by 4:00.
At 4:05 pm winners will be announced. For now, winners do not
need to be present to win, but this may change. Also, if a "team"
is awarded a prize, the entire team will share in the one prize.
Stay tuned for details. (Team membership may be limited to a small
given number of people.)
Please note that the City of Carrollton's Elm Fork Nature
Preserve will be hosting their Annual Elm Fork Nature Fest at the
same time as our event. They are focussing on
environmental-friendly information, education, entertainment,
hikes, booths and exhibits for the entire family. The Nature Fest
will provide new exposure to the Elm Fork Nature Preserve. The
Preserve is located within McInnish Sports Complex off of Sandy
Lake road, one mile west of I-35E and offers nature hikes and a
wide variety of environmentally educational programs year-round. To
see the Carrollton Parks and Recreation web page about this event,
Beginning at 10:00 am, there's going to be a lot of other stuff
going on with the Nature Fest, so plan on arriving early and
staying a while to look around. The geocaching booth itself will be
a travel bug / geocoin trading post, so bring all of your trade
items just for the fun of it. Hey, I will even have some of my
custom made geocache containers here to trade, so bring your
special kind of camoed caches along for the event. Plan to arrive
early and stay late, just for the visit.
On a side note, If I can have a couple geocachers for different
hours of the day to help man the booth, visit with any geomuggles,
log in and out any travel bugs, geocoins, and cache containers,
pass out information (you know, sit, visit, and hand out stuff)
that would be great. I will be there all day, but it would be more
fun for everyone if there could be two or three other geocachers
there at any given time throughout the day. I have four lawn chairs
that I will be bringing along for seating, and an ice chest that
will be full of water bottles for those that participate. This is
not required as part of the event, but you know it is always fun to
sit and visit about geocaching with each other. See the list below;
I will keep it up to date.

Okay, so what am I forgetting. I know there's got to be
something. There are a couple legit geocaches in the area (one very
near where the booth will be located), so that you're not in the
area for just this event cache. And no, you don't have to stay all
day.
Some of you may be dissapointed that I haven't corelated this
event with an episode from any of the Star Trek television series.
After reading through all the information above, I chose not to.
There's too much information already. Don't hesitate to email me with
questions, and for those of you with my cell phone number, please
call at your convenience. See you here, October 14th.
