A ramp goes missing... where does it go? Well this cache will show you just what happens when ramps disappear. The terrain is easy and the cache is relatively easy to locate, but still hidden well.
Keeping with my transportation theme, this cache is again related. When the NJDOT went ahead with the reconstruction of Route 9 / Route 79 / Schanck Road, the plans called for a new jughandle for Route 9 northbound. This new jughandle was so large that it consumed the right of way for the clover ramp for Route 79 southbound to Route 33 eastbound. This eliminated clover ramp was facilitated by turning left instead to Willowbrook Road and getting on from there. This now leaves the old ramp destroyed as the land was excavated for the new jughandle. This cache is located at the top of the hill and accessible from businesses located at the intersection of Route 9 & 79. The safest way to reach the cache would be to park in the nearby shopping center on the north side of Route 33, then walk under the bypass bridges along Route 79, then walk straight up the grassy hill.
From the cache you'll get a lovely view of the fruits of the NJDOT's labor. The container is a Lock & Lock which should (hopefully) keep it dry. Inside are a pen & notebook, and enough space to leave small items, like coins and such...
