Geocache Description:

NOTE

Access Permit Goes Into Effect January 1, 2012 The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) will require an Access Permit for visitors to department-owned Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and public fishing lakes effective January 1, 2012, who are age 17 and older, unless they possess a valid Virginia hunting, freshwater fishing, or trapping license, or a current Virginia boat registration, or are otherwise waived. The Facility Use Permit requirement does not apply to Department-owned boat ramps or segmentsof the Appalachian Trail on Department-owned land. Cost for the Daily Access Permit is $4 per person. Cost for the Annual Access Permit is $23 per person and both prices include the $1 per transaction license agent fee. Daily or Annual Access Permits for WMAs and department-owned public fishing lakes statewide will be available January 1, 2012 for purchase online, by calling 1-866-721-6911 during business hours, or at any license agent such as a local Wal-Mart.

Welcome to the number twelve cache in our Fallin' For Virginia waterfall series. We are striving to bring cachers to some of the lesser known but beautiful waterfalls of Southwest Virginia. This cache and the following two caches are on the very scenic Tumbling Creek Road. There are many pull-offs to view, photograph or fish in the fantistic Tumbling Creek. Most of this stream is a "fee-to-fish" area.

Public hunting is allowed in the apropriate season so care should be taken. Maybe a little blaze orange at the right time of the year? The topography doesn't lend itself to deer hunting but caution is still advised during the seasons.

At this point the Creek narrows to form a canyon of fast moving water. The falls drop 20 to 30 feet in the Hollows.

The falls can easily viewed from the road and the cache requires NO bushwacking to find it. There are trails to go down the mountain to view the Falls closeup but they are steep and sometimes very slick. This is public land so you may go, but you do so at your own risk

The cache is a small (3 X 3 X 2 inches), camo-painted, Loc-n-loc container

Please enjoy these beauties of nature and have a good caching day

NOTE There are two other caches ahead on this road. The Big Falls (GCXBHQ) is only .2 mile up the road and the Little Tumbling Falls (GCXBJ7) is another .1 mile from there. Also, be sure to visit the wonderful three Lake caches.

SECOND NOTE This cache as well as Fallin' XIII and Fallin' XIV may not be available during the Winter months. The road opens again April 1st. Thank you.

Please rehide exactly as you found the cache. Thank you.
