Geocache Description:

A German spy through an Enigma Code Disk out of a moving train in 1943 shortly before being arrested. Can you find it and report just one letter of the code to me.

While performing my Yoga this morning, I listen to an interesting storey on local radio. The storey went like this: Back in 1943 there were a number of listening stations set up South of Leicester to try and track / pin point German Spys who were sending information back to Germany on the movements of Planes to and from Desford, Biteswell and Bruntingthorpe Air Fields as well as Syping on Frank Whitle at Whetstone. One evening these three listening stations picked up opon a transmision some miles south of Lutterworth, as they listen and tried to pin point the location of the broadcast they realised that the Transmitter was acctually on the move North. It was quickly deduced that the broadcast which they had been intercepeting was coming from the Manchester Bound Express on the Great Central Railway. A message was forwarded further up the line and the train was brought to a halt just prior to Cosby. The train was searched and a Spy arrested along with an Enigma Machine, How ever the Coded Disk for the Enigma Machine was missing and although the train was thoughly searched the Code Disk could not be found. Some time after the war the Spy addmitted that he had thrown the vital Code Disk out of the left hand side of the carraige as he faced towards the front of the train, he also said that a fraction of a second after he had thrown the Code Disk out of the carriage window the train passed over another railway which ran at 90 degrees to the Great Central. He though that the Code Disk may have ended up logged in a bush or tree some 40-30 meters before the center of the railway bridge they passed over.

I think if you read the clues above and below + have an OS map you may still be able to find this 4 inche diametor Code Disk lodged in the undergrowth although it may not be nice and shiny anymore after 60+ years, To prove you have found it each cacher must report the next letter off of the Code Disk back to me. There is a log book and pen / penicl to sign in a "Small Round Black" container under the tree.

i.e. The code may be: fthhpvnsss172dgf etc etc.
