This cache has two distinct hiding spots, one for the Summer and one for the Winter. You are encouraged to find and log the the cache in each of it's unique hiding spots. If you log the cache during the Winter please come back and find Swim a second time in the Summer.

***Cache may not be accessible due to lake levels in September and May.***
If the lake levels prevent access during these months no logs will be allowed. There is no access outside of these hours.

You need dry fingernails to open this cache. This cache hunt will change in character from season to season and during the fall, winter and spring you will not have to Swim. This cache will be moved for the winter to the nearby rocky shore and the coordinates will be adjusted. This cache has a Best Time.

Best Time Recommendation: Daytime - June July August.

Please ensure each level is correctly closed when replacing this cache. This cache needs to be replaced exactly as found, the key word being placed rather than dropped, if you are not prepared to do this then please do not hunt this cache. This cache does not contain a pencil, please do not add anything to this cache.

This cache was designed for day time fun in the summer, this cache is a high adventure factor cache. The design behind this cache is based upon a popular game kids play at the pool, it is just a little more difficult. This cache is part of a series, Swim, Ride and Walk are all related caches, there may be other related caches in this series. This series is very physically demanding.

Here is a look at Swim :

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS CACHE ALONE EXCEPT DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS ARE RELATED TO SUMMER SEARCHING

Swim demands very strong swimming skills. YOU NEED TO BE VERY FIT TO RETRIEVE THIS CACHE.

During the summer this cache is best approached with equipment including but not limited to an air mattress, flippers and almost certainly a mask. Swim is under approximately 10 to 12 feet of water for 3 months of the year.

Swim cannot be legally found when the lake is full and no swimming is allowed, no logs will be allowed during those time periods which may be several weeks long in the fall and spring. Swim cannot be found outside of the hours listed above. In the wintertime Swim will be relocated and may be difficult to find if there is any snow cover. In the fall and spring it may be under dirty or partially frozen water varying in depth from inches to feet. The requirement for special equipment does make "Swim" a 5 star terrain cache but the 5 stars are purely technical as Swim is probably only a 4.5 for difficulty most of the time.

Two people are required to complete this cache in the summer but in the winter Swim becomes much easier and may be done by an individual. Swim involves the use of RPs (Reference Points). There are 4 Reference Points (RP's) for Swim. RP1 and RP2 provide a N-S bearing and are viable all year long. RP3 and RP4 provide an E-W bearing and only apply to summer searching. To obtain the bearing from RP1 and RP2 the person retrieving the cache can align these two reference points. An observer will be needed to make sure the person retrieving the cache is on the correct line between RP3 and RP4. For those not familiar with the use of reference points RP3 and RP4 might be confusing, the observer cannot be standing between RP3 and RP4 but must be on the other side of either point to see the line between them. Please replace the cache using the Reference Points and not a GPSr as exact accuracy is required if the next geocacher is to have a successful search. Please remember that Swim sits in a very hostile environment and must be resealed with care, please tighten the containers carefully. I have added pictures of the actual cache so you can see what it looks like, I am not sure it will help. The sand is taken from the lake bottom.

PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN SEEKING THIS CACHE. DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY ACTIVITY BEYOND YOUR ABILITY.

The First to Find prize for Swim has been donated by the GeocachingAlbertaSouth Society (GAS), it is an activated Vermont geocoin that will be adopted out to the First Finder of Swim. This Vermont Geocoin will be mailed to the new owner. Please let others know how you feel about this cache by making an entry in the online log here on geocaching.com.
