A53 - Lager n Lymes (Bonus) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team_Tanner: Have decided to archive some of these caches as we don't have time to maintain them, and would like to free up the area for other cachers. Will be visiting in the next few days to retrieve the cache and move on any coins or bugs.

The A53 Adventure - Bonus Cache!

This is the bonus cache for a series of six caches that stretch along the A53 between Shrewsbury and Newcastle-under-Lyme. There are clues in each of the 6 "standard" caches which give the co-ordinates or the location of this cache.

The clues take the form of a letter = number (e.g. A = 9) and a phrase. The phrase is designed to help you towards the bonus cache - and find out a little more about the area. A map will help you understand some of these also!

The 6 caches are as follows, with the letter indicating the number in each cache:

  1. In the land of the Whirly Birds
  2. Any potters around here
  3. Take a Tern on the Old Road
  4. Canal Dreams
  5. A Cache 4U
  6. Mind Your Manners Mr Mainwaring

The final location can be found by substituting the numbers found in the caches above for the letters in the following co-ordinates.

N52 59.ABE

W002 16.DFC

The clues in the caches should help you in the search also - hence no hints for this cache (especially at the start!)

The co-ordinates above are for suggested car parking closest to the final of the caches above - however you can also approach from the University or the other end of the lane. From the given point it is around .75 miles to the cache. As this is a studious location, i've left a number of stationary items in the cache - please try to keep to the theme!!

The cache itself is a 1 litre plastic clik-lok, located off ground level. The path may be muddy, so may be best to wear boots. DON'T ATTEMPT TO DRIVE DOWN TO WHERE THE CACHE IS - YOUR CAR WILL REGRET IT - EVEN IF A 4WD!!! It is possible to do a circular walk of approx 2 miles to take in the approx location of the cache. Enjoy the Caches!
