A53 - A Cache 4U Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Team_Tanner: Have decided to archive some of these caches as we don't have time to maintain them, and would like to free up the area for other cachers. Will be visiting in the next few days to retrieve the cache and move on any coins or bugs.

Geocache Description:

Small cache located with 50ft of parking in countryside location.

The A53 Adventure!

This is a series of six caches that stretch along the A53 between Shrewsbury and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Their are clues in each of the 6 "standard" caches which lead to a bonus cache, which is located at the Newcastle end.

The clues take the form of a letter = number and a phrase. The phrase is designed to help you towards the bonus cache - and find out a little mmore about the area - a map will help you understand some of these more!

The 6 caches are (from Shrewsbury):

  1. In the land of the Whirly Birds
  2. Any potters around here
  3. Take a Tern on the Old Road
  4. Canal Dreams
  5. A Cache 4U
  6. Mind Your Manners Mr Mainwaring

The bonus cache is "Lager 'n' Lymes"

The inspiration for this series was Mr Team_Tanner's drive to work each day, as he teaches in Newcastle - and regularly passes most of these locations.

Each of the 6 initial caches is situated close to a convenient parking space, and should be easily found. The bonus is approx .75 miles from the co-ordinates listed on the entry.

Enjoy the Caches!
A Cache 4 U is located by the side of a public footpath close to a church on the Shropshire / Staffordshire border. The manor house on the opposite side of the road is not, unfortunately, open to the public, but is where the local businessman and former owner of Phones 4 U resides - hence the name of this cache.

Please take time to look around the church and surroundings, with parking is available at the church, and cache is very close! Cache is a small tobacco tin with the clue stuck inside the lid.
