Basic cache near a small lake in the middle of the forest.
Storträsk on pieni idyllinen järvi Sipoon ja Vantaan rajalla.
Paikalliset kalakerhot ovat istuttaneet järveen pyyntikokoisia
kirjolohia ja ylläpitävät aluetta talkootyönä. Kalastaa saa
ainoastaan erikseen Storträskilla kalastamista varten ostetulla
luvalla, ja järvellä kalastamista koskevat tarkat säännöt.

Päästäksesi järvelle, kannattaa tulla ensin Sotungintietä ja
kääntyä Nybyggetintielle. Auton voi jättää koordinaatteihin N60
17.031 E025 09.606. Tästä kulje runsaat 400 metriä takaisinpäin ja
käänny Tasakalliontielle, jossa polku Storträskille alkaa kohdassa
N60 16.853 E25 09.379. (tämä ei siis tarkoita samassa kohdassa
olevaa puomilla suljettua tietä). Tässä kohtaa on myös pieni
parkkipaikka, mutta se on tarkoitettu ainoastaan kalastusseurojen
jäsenille ja kalastusluvan haltijoille. Muutkin jättävät kuitenkin
usein autonsa tähän, jota käytä omaa harkintaasi tämän suhteen.
Polun alkupuolisko kulkee luonnonsuojelualueen läpi. Polkua pitkin
on noin kilometrin kävelymatka helpossa maastossa Storträskin
pohjoisrannalle. Saavuttuasi järvelle, voit kiertää järveä kätkölle
päin pitkospuita pitkin. Kohdassa N60 16.220 E25 09.476 on alueen
ainoa tulentekopaikka, varustuksena pöytä penkkeineen ja
ilmoitustaulu. Tässä kohdalla ei saa kalastaa.
Maastopyörällä pääsee varovainen ja/tai taitava ajaja järvelle asti
ilman suurempia ongelmia, pitkospuilla lienee pyörän talutus tai
kantaminen paikallaan.
On myös mahdollista päästä alueelle eteläpuolelta, kääntymällä
Sotungintieltä Susiraja - tielle ja sieltä eteenpäin pikkuteitä
pitkin (Porvoonväylän yli). Autolla ei tätä kautta pääse pitkälle
ennen kun on puomi vastassa, eikä hyviä parkkipaikkoja löydy
läheltä. Pohjoisempi reitti on muutenkin suositeltavampi
luonnonkauniimpana ja rauhallisempana.
Koordinaatit heittelehtivät vähäsen kätköpaikalla eri päivinä,
mutta kätkön löytäminen ei pitäisi olla liian vaikeaa. Vihje ei
välttämättä auta paljoa, katso spoiler-kuvaa tarvittaessa. Rasia on
kooltaan 2,5 litraa, joten isompikin reissaaja mahtuu. Kätkö jää
talvella ainakin runsaamman lumentulon jälkeen lumen alle.
Storträsk is a small idyllic lake on the border of Sipoo and
Vantaa. Local fishing organizations have planted rainbow trouts in
the lake and are maintaining the area as a community effort. You
need a special permit to fish here, and there are strict rules
governing fishing in this area. More information about the permits
and the rules are available on the finnish-only website www.strotrask.com.
The best route for getting to the lake is to go along Sotungintie
and turn to Nybyggetintie. You can leave your car at coordinates
N60 17.031 E025 09.606. From here, go a little over 400 meters back
and turn to Tasakalliontie, from which the path to the lake starts
at N60 16.853 E25 09.379 (this does not mean the road closed by a
bar). At this spot there is also a small parking lot, but it is
only meant for members of the fishing organizations and those with
fishing permits. Others often leave their cars there anyway, so use
your own judgement in this matter. The first half of the path goes
through nature preservation area. You now have about a kilometre to
walk, in relatively easy terrain along the path, before arriving to
the north shore of Storträsk. Once there, you can circle around the
lake towards the cache along the duckboard. At N60 16.220 E25
09.476 is the only place in the area where you are allowed to make
a fire. There's a table and benches here and a bulletin board.
Fishing is not allowed in this spot.
A careful and/or skilful mountain biker should be able to get to
the lake without to much trouble, but on the duckboard leading or
carrying the bike is probably for the best.
It is also possible to approach the area from the south, by turning
from Sotungintie to the Susiraja - road and continue along small
roads (over Porvoonväylä E18). However, along this way you won't
get far with a car before the way is closed by a bar, and suitable
parking places nearby are hard to find. The northern route is
recommended, as it is more scenic and peaceful.
The coordinates varied somewhat at the cache spot on different
days, but finding the cache should not be too hard. The hint
doesn't necessarily help much, look at the spoiler picture if need
be. The box is 2,5 litres, so also bigger travellers should be able
to fit inside. The cache will be covered by snow in the winter, at
least after heavier snowfall.
