Portræt af Dronning Alexandrines
Bro
Danmarks smukkeste bro er den blevet
kaldt, Dronning Alexandrines Bro, der leder trafikken over Ulvsund
planmæssigt frem under krigen.

Bro
Moenbroen or as its official name is,
Dronning Alexandrines Bro, has been called the most beautiful
bridge in Denmark, and is connecting the traffic between Zealand
and Moen. The bridge which carry the traffic more than 127 mtrs.
above the sound Ulvsund, is build as a classical arched bridge,
with arches both above and below the roadway, and again it is the
bridge-professor Anker Engelund, who designed the
bridge.
The bridge above Ulvsund belongs to the
group of the most characteristic bridges in Denmark, which due to
the numerous arches stands a special charm. The width of the arch
above the main span is 127,5 meters, and the whole bridge between
Zealand and Moen is 746 meters long.
The thoughts about a bridge between
Zealand and Moen began in the early thirties, where the local
inhabitants on Moen decided to go for a bridge. In 1938 the
ministry at that time gave their recognition to the project, and
the work began the year after. Despite the occupation of Denmark by
the Germans in 1940, the work progressed according to the schedule,
and in the spring of 1943 the bridge was finished.
The name Dronning Alexandrines Bro is due
to the fact that Dronning Alexandrine, who was married to The King
Christian X, participated in the opening of the bridge May 30th.
1943.
The bridge is also called Ulvsundbroen by the locals, - or just
Moenbroen.
