I denne bukten ( Indre Sortvik) har det vært gjort arkeologiske utgravninger. Utgravningene ble gjort
i 1987 – 89. I Indre Sortvik fant de ca 60 hustufter fra yngre steinalder til middelalder, og 26 av husene ble utgravd. Det er de første utgravde husene fra jernalder og middelalder i denne delen av Finnmark. Gjenstander de fant under disse utgravingene består blant annet av en perle med russisk opprinnelse og to brosjer.
Cachen er en gjennomsiktig boks med blått lokk, 1,2 l.

The cache is placed 40 m.o.s.l , a short walk from the road.
This may be a nice place to take a break on the way to Northcape.
In this bay ( Indre Sortvik ) there has been an excavation of prehistoric sites. The excavations took place in the years 1987 – 89. The site Indre Sortvik concist of about 60 house structures and other sites dating from the younger Stone age to the Medieval period, and 26 of the houses and other localities were excavated. It is the first time that house sites from this periods have been excavated in this parts of Finnmark. Artefacts such as a bead of Russian/Karelian origin and to brooches were excavated at the house site.
The cache is a transparent box, with a blue lid, 1,2 l.
