Geocache Description:

Coordinates listed are for the best parking location, NOT for the cache. This is a two-stage puzzle cache. Research needs to be done before setting out. Stage 1 is located very close to the trail. The final cache is a little bit away from the lookout point. Minimal bushwhacking is required. After passing the 14th tee help yourself to a drink of water during the season. If it's hot, toss some on your fellow cachers. But keep it quiet. The golfers don't like to be disturbed. Follow the red trail, trust the trail. At the decision point, go counterclockwise. The red trail forms a loop. The entire walk is about 2.5 miles. The trail is fairly well blazed, but you will need to pay attention if you aren't familiar with it.

The cache is placed near a lookout with a view of The Danbury Fair Mall. Before the mall, there was a wonderful Fair STARTING IN 1869 and also a Racearena eighty some-odd years later. The cache is in memory of these former events. Original contents are all race related. Hoping to keep the theme and have a matchbox race car exchange, but all other trade items are welcome.

Stage 1
N41 _ _ . _ _ _
Find the last day of the Fair and the date the Mall opened. If a time is required for the conversion tool you use, assume noon for both. Convert both dates into a 7 digit number (whole numbers only), using a system with the same common name of the son of a late Beatle (circa 1963). The first two digits of these 7 digit numbers are the same. Plug these two digits into the first 2 missing digits of the N coordinates.
How many totals years did the Fair take place? Add 562 to this number. These are the last 3 digits of the N coordinates.

W073 _ _ . _ _ _
If Sunday = 1, Monday = 2 and so on...
The first missing digit of the W coordinates is the day of the week the Mall opened. The day of the week of the last day of the Fair is the next digit of the W coordinate.
Going back to the earlier date conversion, the next missing digit is the last number of the 7 digit number for the last day of the fair.
How many years was the Racearena in operation? Add 6 to this number for the final W coordinate digits.

Stage 1 is a camo covered match container. It contains the coordinates for the final stage - a camo screw top Rubbermaid jar.

Go on a clear day and enjoy the views into the present and remember the past. You will also pass my recently adopted Golf Quest cache. Feel free to e-mail me your calculated coordinates before you set out to ensure you aren't just wandering around (like in a mall).
