Geocache Description:

This cache is along the Crest trail where Cienega and Pino intersect with it.

The cache is not at the coordinates listed above. The coordinates are for the intersection sign at the top of the mountain. The actual coordinates are listed in Up and Over East or Up and Over West.

If you start in Albuquerque, you will be parking in the Elena Gallegos picnic grounds. Parking fee is $1.00 during the weekdays and $2.00 on the weekends. If you start at Cienage the parking fee is $3.00. I had my wife drop me off and pick me up, so we didn't have to pay for parking.

The series are all hidden near the trails and are pretty easy to find. I didn't want to make the hike anymore difficult than it had to be.

This is part of a multi-cache. There are 3 "Up and Over" caches. Up and Over West and East contain the coordinates to the Up and Over TOP. The coordinates are written on the first page of the log and also on the lids just in case the log gets water logged. If you do all 3 caches you will walk either from the Cienaga or Sulphur spring trails to Albuquerque's Elena Gallegos Picnic area.

It’s not necessary to do all three caches, but to find the one at the top you will need to find either East or West.

We started at Sulphur Canyon trail #281 (0.4 miles) and went on the Faulty trail #195 (0.5 miles) to Cienega Trail #148 (2.2 miles, you can start here if you want to) and headed up. There is an intersection of trails at N35°10.136' W106°24.854’ marked by a gray sign. The TOP cache is within 200 feet of the signpost. Then we headed down the Pino Trail #140(4.5 miles). Then we had my wife pick us up in Albuquerque, we weren't ready to hike it back the other way.

It was nice being able to leave the ammo can on the top and lighten the load a little bit. TOP is and Ammo can, East and West are camoed water bottles.

Make sure that it's a nice day for a hike, I don't want anybody being caught in a thunder storm.

If you didn't bring the coordinates for the other caches along they are as follows.

Up and Over West
N35°10.031' W106°25.887'
Up and Over East
N35°10.042' W106°23.979'
