Come and discover this special aquaduct. Not the usual one, but a tunnel through the Briarette hill, build in the first or second century A.D. In 1905 the aquaduct was classified as a historic monument.

Cet ouvrage, conçu pour fonctionner comme un réservoir, était alimenté en eau par le canal et par un barrage sur la rivière La Brivaz. Du côté de Briord, une chute de 35m pouvait permettre d'actionner plusieurs moulins et ensuite d'alimenter en eau le village antique de Briord.
La cache :
Il vous faudra traverser l'aqueduc souterrain pour pouvoir aller récupérer la cache. La fin du tunnel est plus ou moins inondée selon les conditions météo. Si vous venez avec des enfants, il est préférable de les porter. La traversée ne comporte aucun danger et est autorisée. Une fois sortis de l'aqueduc, partez à droite dans la prairie en direction de la cache.
Il faudra vous munir de bottes et d'une lampe pour la traversée !

It was dug to divert water from the river Brivaz to the old village of Briord. When it passed the aquaduct the water had to fall down for about 35m. The running water made it possible to actuate several watermills.
The cache :
To get to the cache location you have to go through the tunnel all the way. It is completely safe and legal. There can be water in the tunnel (hey, it's an aquaduct!), mainly at the end. Always hold children by the hand or carry them. At the end of the aquaduct turn right at the meadow and walk straight to the cache.
You must bring a torch or flashlight and wear waterproof boots !
