| Hidden deep within an old stone library was the Cerebral Codex, which told a unique and intriguing tale. In a mysterious environment, two friends find themselves in a strange place with only the Cerebral Codex to help guide them. They find that the codex is riddled with mind bending and mysterious mental challenges, which when solved lead them on an adventure like no other. Work to solve the puzzles and uncover hidden information in the codex and begin your own adventure. This is a multi-stage challenge which has several levels each consisting of a mental challenge (puzzle) followed by a physical challenge. All of the puzzles can be found in the attached text file. Can you unlock the mysteries encoded deep within the Cerebral Codex? |

Cache Notes
|
|
You are being provided with all of the puzzles up front. There is no need to work in a progressive order from one stage to the next. The Cerebral Codex contains (at minimum) ten unique puzzles that guard its mysteries. Your first challenge is to identify the puzzles and decipher how you are to use their hidden information. Once you have found the puzzles, you can solve them in any order that you like. Each leads to a unique location and discloses pieces of the final summative puzzle. The summative puzzle consists of twenty Meshulash pieces and contains the information that you need to locate the final cache container.

| In order to start this cache, you MUST visit the posted start coordinates for some valuable information. However, you will need to discover how to utilize the information for yourself. |
| We have tried to be sensitive to northern New Jersey cachers by placing an "alternate start" container in their region as well, at N40 48.482 W74 14.482. This container is identical to the one found at the posted coordinates. |

| There are three basic ways to tackle the Cerebral Codex: |

As an Individual Cacher |
|
This adventure can be tackled by an individual, however, it is full of puzzles and challenges that may prove difficult for one person. This challenge will incorporate several physical aspects of geocaching including (but not limited to) paddle caching, 4x4 driving and some serious bushwhacking. It is never recommended for an individual to attempt any of the aforementioned activities alone. However, individuals will need to make this decision for themselves. |

As a Team |
|
A team approach builds friendships and increases the enjoyment level. The team approach utilizes the strengths of each team member. Additionally, it is always advisable to work in the field with others for safety reasons, especially on a 5/5 cache such as this. The only thing that we ask is that teams not use distance puzzle solvers who can not participate and that team members visit the stages before logging the cache. |

As a Distance Cacher |
|
We understand that there are a lot of great puzzle solvers out there. We have tried to make this cache distance friendly by creating a special trackable item that distance solvers can log. However, this cache page is rated 5/5 – meaning %50 percent of its difficulty rating relies on physical challenges that must be completed. Solving via distance is impressive but negates the terrain rating. Distance solvers can log a note on this cache page proclaiming victory. Additionally, distance cachers will get special instruction for logging a Cerebral Codex trackable item once they have solved the summative puzzle. If you are a distance cacher use the “Book Challenge” route. You will understand more about the “Book Challenge” once you begin working on the Cerebral Codex. |

 The Cerebral Codex is set in the heart of the pines "Wharton State Forest". With over 100,000 acres Wharton is the largest New Jersey State Forest and provides a great backdrop for this challenge. While the cache itself is located in Wharton State Forest, this adventure will take you well beyond it’s boundaries in search of the puzzle pieces that you need to access the final cache container and logbook. The Cerebral Codex was not designed to be tackled in a weekend - this will take thought, time and several trips. As always, cachers seeking to solve the mysteries of the Cerebral Codexare encouraged to enjoy the bounty of other great caches in the Wharton area. This is not a race - enjoy the adventure and take the time to do some of these other distinguished caches. |
