If anyone finds the final before me they can keep it.

Geocache Description:

In a National Trust field at Waterhead, south of Ambleside, Cumbria, beside A591 road. Near a very popular walk and busy road. So discretion needed.
Cache was muggled early August 2006 and compromised November 2010. New hiding place, new co-ordinates, same views. Can be found in snow.

UPDATED CO-ORDINATES, NEW LOCATION November 23, 2010

This is one of a series of geocaches put out for the Windermere on Water event taking place over weekend of June 7/8 2008. A simple easy cache to find to encourage people to find more. This series of caches can be reached by boat, bike or on foot. Water users will be able to get the closest to this cache before leaving their transport.

Here are some suggestions for cache dashers.
Park at Stagshaw Gardens. Parking with Honesty Box. Walk down the drive. On reaching A591 main arterial road you have a dilemma.
A) Straight across the road and climb the fence or gate and give caching a bad name. Follow GPSr. Avoid barbed wire?
B) Turn left (south) walk along pavement to corner of field where it meets woodland. Enter field by wooden stile. Follow GPSr. WM5702
C) Turn right (north) walk along pavement to Waterhead Marine. Enter field through stone stile in slate wall at corner of field. Follow GPSr.
D) From Stagshaw parking, walk part way down drive to rough lane on north side. Emerge from rough lane at Waterhead Marine. Cross road to stone stile in corner of field. Follow GPSr.
To get back, follow B C or D route.

For a leisurely walk one evening. Park at hidden road Additional Waypoint. Walk through Waterhead along the shore side pavement, continue through grounds of YHA (big black gated road) to Waterhead Marine. Enter field and follow GPSr. Return via Stagshaw gardens.

Windermere lake is a public highway, subject to rules of the road and rules of navigation at sea, with few public access points. Waterhead is one of them. Speed limit on lake is 10 mph, with 6 mph in Waterhead basin. Lake has its own bye-laws available from LDNPA.

When you fill in log book, feel free to describe your methods of transport used to reach this cache.
