Upravena hradni zricenina tvori vyraznou dominantu na jihu mesta nad pravym brehem Labe na 100 m vysoke znelcove skále. Hrad byl zalozen k ochrane obchodní cesty v roce 1318. Romanticky vzhled hradni zriceniny pritahoval radu vyznamnych osobnosti (napr. malir Adrian Ludwig Richter, Ernst Gustav Doerel, skladatel Richard Wagner, basnik Karel Hynek Mácha). V letech 1923 – 1936 byla pod hradem, na rece Labi, postavena Masarykova zdymadla s plavebni komorou a elektrarnou.
Do hradniho palace je umistena expozice historie hradu a blizkeho regionu. Z terasy od restaurace je prekrasny vyhled na mesto a do labskeho udoli. Po roce 1989 se hrad vratil do vlastnictvi Lobkowiczu.
The adapted castle ruins form a distinct dominant in the south of the city over the right bank of the Elbe river. The ruins are placed on 100 m high clinkstone rock. The castle was founded in 1318 to protect the local trade route. The Romantic appearance of the castle ruins attracted many outstanding personalities (e.g. painter Adrian Ludwig Richter, Ernst Gustav Doerel, composer Richard Wagner, poet Karel Hynek Macha). In 1923-1936 the Masaryk flood gate with a ship lock and a power station was constructed below the castle on the river Labe. An exhibition of the history of the castle and the region can be visited in the castle palace. Visitors of the restau-rant terrace have an exquisite view of the city and of the Elbe valley. After 1989 the castle was restituted to the Lobkowicz family.
Diese adaptierte Burgruine auf einem 100 m hohen Klangsteinfelsen über dem linken Elbufer bildet eine markante Dominante südlich der Stadt. Die Burg wurde zum Schutz des Handelsweges im Jahr 1318 gegründet. Das romantische Aussehen der Burgruine zog schon immer bedeutende Persönlichkeiten an (z. B. den Maler Adrian Ludwig Richter, Ernst Gustav Doerel, den Komponisten Richard Wagner und den Dichter Karel Hynek Mácha). In den Jahren 1923-1936 wurde auf der Elbe unter-halb der Burg eine Stauanlage mit einem Schiffshebewerk und einem Kraftwerk gebaut.
Der Burgpalast beherbergt eine Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Burg und der nahen Region. Von der Terrasse der Gaststätte aus hat man eine herrliche Aussicht auf die Stadt und das Elbtal. Nach 1989 kam die Burg wieder in den Besitz der Familie Lobkowicz.
Skrys lezi blizko cervene znacene turisticke stezky, ze ktere je i viditelna. Je vsak dobre (doufam) zamaskovana.
