Located along I-90 (westbound), near Vantage.
Fantastic river view. A great view right off the interstate. Travel Bugs welcome.
WINTER NOTE: The gate to the overlook is closed each winter. You can still find the cache by taking the viewpoint exit and then parking on the shoulder close to the gate. At that point, walk straight to the cache.
SUMMER NOTE: Drive in and enjoy the view.
When we visited the "Wild Stallions" cache on the eastbound side of the freeway several years ago I looked over and thought this would be an awesome place for a cache. I was born less than a mile from the Columbia River and still love it 60+ years later.
The cache is ~~ 300 feet off the entry road --- just far enough to make you feel like you worked a little to get to it. No need to go near any steep cliffs -- do this one in the daylight or bring a high-beam flashlight in the dark. The area is very rocky and sagebrushy.
Rattlesnakes have been spotted in the area so stay alert.
The container is an ammo box. Please re-conceal the cache well.
Once you've found the cache be sure to go over to the observation point and enjoy the great view.
