Geocache Description:

Easy 2 stage multi with micro cache containing logbook and pencil. Parking available directly across the street at City Hall, or at the cache site except M-F 8AM-4PM

Located in Frank Tupa Park Frank Tupa Park is located in northeast Edina on Eden Avenue, directly across from Edina City Hall. This one-acre park is the home of the Old Cahill School, visited throughout the year by students who want to experience a day of school in the 1800s. Minnehaha Grange Hall, another historic property, is also located at the park. The Edina Historical Society oversees activities at the historic properties.

Grassy areas surround the buildings. The history of the Cahill School is not only interesting to read about, but will also help you locate a hidden cache. Being a schoolhouse, it’s only appropriate that one must use the 3 R’s to compute the location of the second stage of this easy multi. Just some old-fashioned addition and subtraction is all you need. But be careful, because the teachers back then weren’t as forgiving as today’s.

To find the location of the final stage, go to the initial posted coordinates. Here you will find yourself looking at one of two signs. All the numbers you need will be on this highly informative sign. You’ll know which one to study when you start putting together the pieces. You will find the answers to two simple math problems. With each answer you apply the number to the ORIGINAL coordinates, which will get you to the final. So don’t erase your original coordinates just yet—you’ll need them. Always find a number to correspond to the lettered questions.

Part 1. Find the Final Latitude A. How many acres were purchased to build the school? B. How much did this acreage cost? Now, add the answers from A+B, take this SUM and subtract this from the initial Latitude. This is your new FINAL latitude. Write it down, in ink, with neat penmanship.

Part 2. Find the final longitude. A = the average number of students. B = the number of entrances for students. C = the number of acres purchased for the school. D = the purchase price of the land. E = A + B + C - D.  Add this number to the longitude to obtain the final longitude. Write it down, in ink, with neat penmanship.

You can check your answer in the checker.

Part 3. Find the Cache. Upon finding the cache, sign logbook, re-stash the cache, then promptly return to class.

Part 4. Log your find at www.geocaching.com.

Have fun!!!
