Geocache Description:

NEW COORDS AND NEW LOCATION!!! A nice hike that starts in Cheesebro Canyon. Cache is actually located on the Ridge Trail just outside of NPS land. Expect about 25 minutes of casual hiking pace each way from the parking lot (although there is one decent uphill stretch on the way there). And bring your creative side!

We "borrowed" this idea from a cache we went after visiting family in Virginia (which, in turn, was borrowed from a cache in Florida, I think). Anyway, there didn't seem to be anything like it around, so here it is...

The cache contains:
  • Sketch book/log
  • Set of colored pencils
  • Set of crayons
  • Set of markers

When you find the cache, you gotta draw something. Specifically, we're trying to complete the alphabet. "A" is already done, so the first-to-find must draw something for the letter "B." If we get to "Z", the next person starts at "A." Pretty simple, eh?

There's really nothing to trade, unless you want to swap out art supplies.

This area is apparently devoid of caches. I hear there used to be some, but apparently not any more. In March/April/May, the mustard plants are in full yellow blossom--which is amazing since this area was devastated in the brush fires last year.

The cache is about 5 feet off the trail. There are signs earlier in the trail warning to stay on the trail due to re-vegetation attempts--however, there are no such signs anywhere nearby.

Don't wimp out--draw something :)
Parking is available at:
N 34-09.364
W 118-43.871
Suggestion: When approaching Cheesebro Canyon, don't use what appears to be the first parking area--that will only add a half mile to your hike! Use the parking coords!
