I walk at night, looking for answers to questions I am only learning how to ask, about things adults dismiss, but children are right to fear. Shapes that lurk in the darkness, nightmares that intrude from another realm, forces that spring not from the imagination, but live amongst us unseen. These forces have taken something from me, something I can never recover. So I stalk the night, looking, knowing that our fear of the dark never really goes away, we just learn to pretend it's not there.
I am the Night Stalker.
While you cannot take part in my quest, you can follow the steps of this journey, if you can master your own fear of the dark. In this case darkness hides the secrets you seek, but it is also your ally, for it is only in the darkness that your path will be revealed. I came to this place seeking the truth about a legendary story, of a phantom horseman who rides these trails in the night always searching for something he has lost. A friend of mine came before me to seek the horseman and I have not heard from him since, if you see him let him know I am looking for him. Beware travellers along this road if you should hear the hoofbeats of the horseman's steed or see his tracks upon the trail, for he seeks his head lost so many years ago. The horseman cannot rest until he finds his head and is made whole again. So he rides these trails always searching, jealous of the living, he does not suffer them to travel his trails freely, so he exacts a toll, in payment he collects their heads.
If you choose to seek the secret of the horseman you must come to the coordinates I have posted and search for a marker shining in the night. I have placed many of these markers along the trails that lead to the abode of the horseman. I am sure that if you take time to reflect on all that I have shared, you will find a shining guide looking back at you from the darkness.
So can you conquer your fears and discover the secret of the horseman? It is not easy, fear has it's own physiology, the primal responses to threat, the quickened heart, the sweaty palm, the panic that chokes in the throat making time seem to stand still. We are born with these instincts, to flee danger from the world outside us, to survive, but there is nowhere to run when the danger comes not from outside, but from within. I hope you enjoy following me along the horseman's trail and that we all don't lose our heads and become lost in the darkness...
All of my Night Stalker caches may only be sought at night and as such you must take the appropriate precautions and make sure you are properly attired and equipped. I strongly recommend the use of a flashlight, in fact I am confident you will find it very difficult to follow the trail I have left for you without one. I have tested this trail with both an LED flashlight and an incandescent model, they both work, but I found the trail easier to follow using an LED light. I also strongly suggest that you mark a waypoint so that you may find your way back out of these woods, I have marked a trail in, but you must find your own way out. I also strongly urge you to be very careful along the trail, off the sides of the trail you may find broken glass or lots of cactus, known locally as prickly pears, so watch your step.
