A limestone quarry along old railroad line 142
The railway line, built in 1867-1869 was closed in 1962. In 1997, these was arranged to be integrated into the network Ravel, [Communication network reserved for displacement not motorized: pedestrians, cyclists, people with reduced mobility, rollers and when it is possible the riders. For this cache, you will have to leave the main line, through one of the many closed limestone quarries around Namur. Once extracted, stone was transformed into lime in oven on the site and then dispatched by rail.
Remarks :
- If you come by cycle , do not forget a lock because you will not be able to take it to the cache.
- If you look for a parking : N50°29.148 E4°51.433
- For geocachers who want more, recommended “Asty-Moulin” from CIPA starts some 1.5 km south and easy “L142-Frizet” from Thermines is some 2.0 km north, both on the same old railroad line.
