Dia De São
Valentim
altura do ano e o amor/sexo.
História de São
Valentim
torturados.

S.
Valentine’s Day
The S.
Valentine’s day is fruit of the mixture between heathen traditions
and religion catholic. 14 of February were, in old
Rome
, a dedicated
holiday to Juno, the queen of Roman gods, also known as the goddess
of the women and the marriages. Another probable
origin for this day is the festival dedicated to Fauno (known as Pã
between the Greeks), a divinity that guarded for the fertility of
the fields and the fecundity of the flocks, celebrated in February,
15. During these festivals, known as Lupercalia,
were drafted the names of the young bachelors between the
youngsters candidates to be girlfriends. The romance could have the
duration of the festival or longer being. Many times the young were
gotten passionate and married later. Later, the
Lupercalia festival was adapted by the Christian Church, which
intended to abolish the heathen festivities. The drawing of the
names of girls was being substituted for names of saints, and the
ritual was “sponsored” for Saint Valentin, that had died,
precisely, the 14 February of 269, d.C.
The date
coincided, also, with the beginning of coupling time the
birds. The name “Lupercalia” drifts of “Lupus”, wolf in
Latin.
“Lupercal” was the sacred cave where the female wolf had fed
the twins Rómulo and Remo,
founders of
Rome
. Every year, the 15 of February, the priests were congregated in
this cave and sacrificed small animals, took off their skin and
touched in the people with straps of skin of the animals, to cure
the sterility. From there the association between this time of the
year and love/sex.
History of St. Valentim
The legend counts that Valentin was a priest who, in
century III d.C. , married, in secret, the young pairs of
boyfriends. Emperor Cláudio II, recognizing that the best soldiers
were single, had forbidden the lovers to contract marriage.
Valentin, who dared to celebrate marriages, was discovered,
imprisoned and condemned to the death by
decapitation. Currently, Saint Praxedes’s Church, in Rome ,
keeps the relics of the saint and is a destination of pilgrimage of
many pairs of boyfriends. The Catholic Church registers at least
two saints with the name of Valentim. One would be bishop of
Interamna; another priest in Rome . It is possible that both were
the same saint: according to “Martirológio Romano”, both had been
decapitated in the “ Flaminia Way ” and their party was in
February,14.
