You can park very close to the cache in the Tekke main car park.
Within the Tekke is the tomb of Umm Haram, in whose name the monument was built. As explained by Islamic tradition this aunt of the Prophet Mohammed visited the site in 647 A.D. broke her neck in a fall from her mule and was buried on the spot. The present mosque was built by the Turks in her honour and two huge upright stones supporting a third mark her grave.
Salt Lake
In August every year it produces large quantities of good quality salt, which used to be used for local consumption and export to Europe. In the Middle Ages the lake served as a safe harbour where ships could stop to take in fresh supplies of food and water and where tourists or passengers could disembark. In other words it was a commercial port.
The cache is a 35mm film container.
