Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOW LOCATED AT THE GIVEN COORDINATES. The object of this cache is to find a cache in each of Nevada's seventeen counties and then locate the final cache at the coordinates given after the completion of the 17 caches. The end cache log may be signed prior to finding all of the county caches. But the find cannot be logged until your final list is approved.

UPDATE: 15 March 2017 This cache was adopted to me, Moose Mob, after the passing of the CO. The cache has been relocated to a spot in the open desert along the paved road to Desert Wildlife Refuge. The walk to the cache is under 200 feet and not recommended when it is wet. Nevada covers over 100,000 square miles. It is the most mountainous state in the union. The name is derived from a Spanish word meaning snow capped; they must have seen the northern part of the state first. For its size Nevada has relatively few counties, only seventeen. West Virginia, my home state, has 55 counties and is less than 1/5 the size of Nevada. The name of this cache is an acronym that I learned shortly after moving to Las Vegas in 1962. The phrase has nothing to do with the plant name it contains. Until 1969 it represented the first initial of each county. In 1969 Ormsby County and Carson City consolidated into Carson City. The Internet contains many links to Nevada history, here are three; http://www.nv.gov/ http://www.nevada-history.org/county.html The rules for this cache are simple: -Find a cache in each of the 17 Nevada counties. -Any type of cache qualifies as long as it listed on geocaching.com. Since all locationless caches have been archived, they do not count. -Since there are existing caches in each county, caches placed by you will not count for completion of this cache. -Submit the list to me for verification before logging the final cache. This cache may be logged after the other seventeen are completed and the list approved. Be aware while you are planning that the final cache will be in Clark County. I'm flexible on this contact me for options. -If you are using one of the stats sites that show counties cached in on your profile, let me know. That is the simplest way for me to check the finds. This web site gives some options; http://geocachefanatic.com/geocaching-statistics-its-not-about-the-numbers-switched-off/ -The other way is to send me a list of finds in Nevada. I prefer that the lists be submitted in the form of a .loc or .gpx file and indicate the county each cache is in. If you don't use EasyGPS or GSAK, just send me a list of the counties with the found cache, I'll figure it out. I will be using Delorme's Topo USA ® 9.0 as the map defining the county boundaries. -If you want the "Write Note" feature on the cache web site can be used to track your progress by listing the counties and your finds as you go and later editing the log to a find when you complete the end cache. -I am the sole arbitrator of the rules and reserve the privilege of adding rules if problems are encountered. The Nevada counties as they appear in the cache title are: C = Clark W = Washoe E = Elko L = Lander L = Lincoln S = Storey E = Eureka W = White Pine N = NYE C = Churchill O = Ormsby (Carson City) L = Lyon D = Douglas H = Humboldt E = Esmeralda M = Mineral P = Pershing
