Geocache Description:

This small tupperware type cache is situated in the beautiful Draycote Water Country Park on the A426 between Southam and Rugby. The reservoir was created in the 1960’s and is the largest in Warwickshire. It covers more than 600 acres and holds up to 5,000 million imperial gallons of water. The park has a waterside restaurant, gift shop, and lots of picnic areas. It is renowned as a site for bird watching and has a bird hide. Severn-Trent also manage the adjacent 21 acre country park. It also has it’s own sailing club.

The park is free to explore but there is a £2.50 car-parking charge. The reservoir really is a beautiful place and I rate it one of the best places in Warwickshire. Hensborough Hill has magnificent views over the whole reservoir.

Draycote water reservoir has a five-mile perimeter road around it and the cache is situated about half way round. You can either walk this or, as I usually do, cycle around it. If walking, allow at least a couple of hours.
Park in the car park (N52 19.117, W001 19.027) and walk alongside the restaurant/Visitor Centre on your right and just follow the road around the reservoir. The cache is placed a few yards off the road. When you find the cache continue clockwise to bring you back to the car park.
