This cache can be approached by hiking or by boat. Parking for hike is off of White River Rd. at N 43 54.657 W 089 05.562 and closest landing for boat (across the river from cache) is at N 43 54.043 W 089 04.992. I strongly recommend that if you are hiking in you park at above coordinates. This cache will be very difficult to hike to if parking elsewhere. It is a little over 1 mile hike (each way). By boat it is about .3 miles to cache from landing.
If hiking, the trail starts after the bump at end of parking area. About half the hike is on a trail which used to be a dirt road. There are many fallen trees that are over the trail. There is a point in the trail where you come to an opening and your GPS will be pointing forward. Turn left here and follow trail along trees (until you get back in trees it will only be a faint trail). Eventually the trail/dirt road will turn into a trail and then end at a ditch. This ditch may have water in it depending how dry or wet it is. There is a land bridge going across ditch (N 43 54.460 W 089 04.746). This bridge is a quarter mile hike from cache. After crossing ditch, follow ditch west to marsh and then walk along edge of marsh to cache. If you take a boat, there is a nice sand landing area on river near cache. Please record how you got there in log. I recommend that you go the way I explain if hiking. Crossing the marsh directly and not taking the trail would be very difficult and only possible with waders when area is wet. The point has marsh on one side and the river on the other. The hill overlooking the river is a great spot to have a picnic (or propose) if you have the inclination. You will notice that the Fox River looks like is splits just west of cache. There used to be a dam and there were locks for boats. The boat landing is actually very close to where the locks where. The dam was removed just recently (Nov. 2003) because it was a navigational hazard and a barrier to fish passage. The Army Corps of Engineers abandoned the dam in the 1950s.
I have not been actively geocaching in several years but I made the journey back to this cache on 5/9/21 with my dog. The approach to this Goecache has changed significantly over the winter. They have logged the area all around the cache. It sadly is a much a different journey than it was when I placed the cache over 15 years ago. Still worth the journey though! Lots of wildlife! I saw geese, several species of ducks, and a couple of turkeys. I recommend sturdy hiking shoes or boots. The original trail/road was converted into a logging road and getting to cache via land involves navigating logs and timber. It can be fairly uneven. The object that the cache was in fell over so I hid as best I could without changing coordinates.
