Geocache Description:

This cache has a bit of a mystery tied into it as well. You will need to translate some binary and find a map and 2 waypoints before having enough information to find the final Magnanimous Cache

- WELCOME TO A MAGNANIMOUS CACHE CREATED BY QFC -

The main coordinates provided for this cache (top of the page) will not take you to the cache, you will need to print out a copy of the map to use while finding the cache. The coordinates for the entrance are 26°03.938' South and 27°57.238' East. There is an entrance fee. R15 if you take your vehicle in, and R5 per person excluding the driver (this seems to be dependent on the day, or who is at the gate). You can walk in, which will just be R5 per person, but to support city parks, and save you from a long walk, we suggest taking your car in. Total distance you will need to walk if you are without a car is roughly 3km.
The park is open between 8am and 6pm

The Map was generously provided to us by Pieter Mulder, and he has marked the 2 waypoints that you need to find on the Map. One of our aims for this cache is to introduce people to orienteering… here is an extract from the Wikipedia Encyclopaedia:

“Orienteering is a sport involving navigation with map and compass. The traditional form (sometimes referred to as Foot Orienteering or Foot-O) involves cross-country running, though other forms have evolved. Participants have a map, usually of an area with which they are unfamiliar, and a compass. They attempt to visit, in sequence, control points that are indicated on the map, as quickly as possible.”
For more information on Orienteering, you can visit the RACO Orienteering website at: www.racorienteers.co.za

You will need to use the map that you have printed to find the waypoints the other waypoints and finally the cache. Each of the waypoints will have a clue to the next waypoint, and a key which you will use in the Mystery part of this cache below. The first waypoint (closest to the entrance) next to remains of the square metal pole (now cut off at ground level), look for the north east remaining pole section of the indicated location.

Now for the Mystery

Since QFC comprises of 3 programmers, who never really use binary, we decided to make a simple binary puzzle… Basically just translate a few binary numbers into decimal.

The Cache’s final coordinates are as follows:
S 26°0(M.AGN)
E 27°5(I.OUS)

You need to work through the instructions below to translate the letters in the brackets above. These will first be translated into a new set of letters.
E.g.: (M.AGN) may end up being (A.BCD).
Each of the keys that you will find at the waypoints will allow you to translate your new letters into numbers, so in the above example,
the key may be, A=6, B=4, C=9 and D=2 and therefore your south coordinates would be 26°06.492.

Ok, do the following:

Translate the following Binary into Decimal values:
  M = 1100
  A = 1111
  G = 1011
  N = 1000
  I = 1001
  O = 1110
  U = 1100
  S = 10000
For each of the Decimal numbers, find the equivalent letter in the alphabet. i.e.: A=1, B=2… and so forth… Z=26.

You should now have a new set of letters, which you will finally translate into numbers using the keys that you will find at the waypoints. Simple as that! Have Fun!

We have provided a few hints to help you find the map, waypoints and final cache. 0 is a hint to find the map, 1 to find the 1st waypoint, 2 for the 2nd and 3 is for the actual cache.
