Geocache Description:

Log a webcam image with you in to claim this find. Will need an accomplice or smartphone to save picture after REFRESHING image many times. Own camera picture is NOT sufficient. Refresh picture, F5 or visit host's page, link above or click picture. Wear something in-appropriate or wave at camera, so we know its you. Please log how we know its you. FREE INTERNET ACCESS Barclays Bank at GZ see below.

NOTE FROM REVIEWER All photos are date and time stamped. If the camera is not working you cannot claim a find and doing so runs the risk of the cache being archived.

If the image is stuck

The camera needs restarting. Pop into the Coppermines Booking Office at Bridge House (25m West of the co-ordinates) under the camera, and ask them kindly to power cycle the camera.

Show it is you. E.g. open umbrella at night, sou'wester hat on sunny day, wave a football scarf.

How to log a webcam cache guidelines, for instructions follow link from webcam icon above. Once you have logged your visit, IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS you can upload your image via the link on your log. An uploaded photo taken with your camera of the webcam image on your smartphone is an alternative to saving the image, if smartphone user is not that clever :-) Example log, using a screen grab. Desktop users can save the webcam image as usual and forward it to logger.

There is a payphone just out of view, on the left of picture. Might be useful.

Smartphone users open another page in your phone's browser and then Bookmark image.

Smartphone users bookmark or open the webcam image link and refresh image, to save loading the whole page with log images every time you Refresh.

The Co-ords are one place to stand. The picture interval varies but not on this site, so please REFRESH this page to change the image. The Host's page (follow link above 'Related web page' or click picture) automatically refreshes if you go there. The webcam should synchronise with NIST time server. Hopefully the webcam clock is accurate; church clock in background is adjusted for northern latitudes. :-) Your GPSr is most accurate.

There is a few tens seconds delay for uploaded webcam image to appear on host site. Ask your accomplice to save a webcam picture with you in view. (Right click webcam image.) If you are unable to save a picture with you in it, you cannot claim a find. Instead all you do is just post a note.

The host's website was changed early March 2017.

The webcam runs day and night and there is a street lamp in view. First night time shot was on 06 December 2005 by Apiglet

MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE All major networks have coverage in the village. There is 3g coverage for all you smartphone users. (First smartphone log on June 24 2006 by Paul and Max. ) Use LA21 8DU to check coverage. See nearest Waymarks for payphones and Wifi. It is possible to call from nearby payphone and wave at webcam 2 minutes later for a willing accomplice to save the webcam picture. Remind them to REFRESH the image or page.

PUBLIC INTERNET There is a public Internet access at Lakeland House , Coniston TIC and The Green Housekeeper Cafe in Coniston, and Ambleside library, as well as several unofficial 'hotspots' for those with wi-fi enabled devices.

FREE INTERNET ACCESS
BARCLAYS Bank now offer free wi-fi access to anyone. Do not have to be BARCLAYS customer. You are stood outside a BARCLAYS branch, which is open only on certain days..But wifi is available all the time.
For patrons of The Green Housekeeper Cafe with wireless tablet PCs (iPads) and smartphones. Ask staff for keyword. Accomplice could stand just outside the cafe and look down Yewdale Road at cachers stood on Church Bridge who would be in webcam's view. Visual signals are all that is needed. Or use your call time for a real emergency.
