Geocache Description:

.o0O POV -III- A Quick Knap O0o.

This is the last in a series of three POV (Point of View) Caches on Barry Island.

We highly recommend doing all three Caches in this series in one go, as this makes a lovely walk taking in headland and seafront across the Island. It would be very easy to make a day-trip of this, Caching along the way while enjoying time at the Beach, on the rides and taking in breathtaking scenary along the headland.

The series:

POV -I- Nell's Point of View
Takes in a beautiful piece of headland overlooking the seafront on Barry Island.

POV -II- Friars Point of View
A short walk across the seafront from POV -I- and takes in another nice piece of headland on the Island overlooking Barry Harbour.

POV -III- A Quick Knap
A short way from POV -II- this can be accessed across Barry Harbour when the tide is out (a great walk among the boats, being careful to stay on the drier and firmer areas of sand), or across the causeway if the tide is in. This one can alternatively be done individually as a Cache 'n Dash if you wish, with limited parking available along the front of the Knap.

The series can be done in any order, but it is highly recommended to park at the top of the Island among the new housing development on Nell's Point, and then proceed to do I, II and III in order.

The cache is a medium-sized pill container containing log and pencil. You may wish to take a pen along to log with more easily.

NOTE:
Care should be taken if you choose to take the route across the harbour. You should probably only attempt it in decent footwear, having made yourself familiar with tidal information, and taking a route across the drier and firmer sand. Oh, and take a Mobile-phone just in case!

Cache In Trash Out
It seems these areas are prime spots for litter unfortunately, and although there are dedicated Litter-pickers along some of these stretches, they often don't quite get to those crevices that us Geocachers poke around in, so if you do happen to bring a bag, it would be great to 'Cache In and Trash Out' while you're there!
