The Kilbo Path is an old drovers route stretching from Glen Prosen
to the intersection of Glen Doll and Glen Clova. This path was also
used by the Caterans - groups of cattle thieves - who frequented
these parts. Nowadays the Kilbo Path is a popular 13km/8mile walk
between Glen Doll and Prosen Lodge.
This part of the Kilbo Path takes you from the Doll car park up
through the Glendoll forest to the point where you would join the
Shank of Drumfollow. When you leave the forest, look to the North
West for impressive views up Glen Doll and see if you can see the
track left by Jock!!
Close to the cache, at the side of the path is a large flat rock
which makes an ideal picnic spot
Although you are walking through the forest for most of the way
and are sheltered, the cache is at a height of 595 metres, so be
prepared for colder, windier conditions.
Parking is by a £2.00 donation to the Angus Ranger service, who
also provide a route card service for walkers in the area. Leave a
note of your details and route in the box at the ranger station.
From the car park initially follow signs for the Doll Walk which
will lead you towards the Kilbo Path.
