Geschichte:
Die Eyneburg wird 1260 zum ersten Mal erwähnt. Dass der Gebäudekomplex im Volksmund "Emmaburg" genannt wird, geht auf eine Legende zurück, der zufolge eine Tochter Karls des Grossen, Emma, zeitweilig dort gelebt haben soll. Dieser historisch nicht haltbare Zusammenhang wurde aber erst im 19. Jh. hergestellt.
Ursprünglich wurde sie wohl zum Schutz des, im Mittelalter bedeutsamen, Galmei Bergwerkes errichtet. 1897 kaufte der Aachener Tuchfabrikanten Theodor Nellessen die Burg und lies sie in einen herrschaftlichen Besitz umbauen. Hier habt ihr einen schönen Ausblick auf die Eisenbahnbrücke von Moresnet.
Dieser Viadukt setzt sich aus 22 Stahltafeln, doppelgleisig, zusammen; jede ist 46 m lang. Die gesamte Konstruktion wird von zwei Widerlagern und insgesamt 21 Pfeilern gehalten. Sie ist 1.100 m lang und ist, durch die sehr unterschiedlichen Höhenbeschaffenheit des Geländes, zwischen 23 und 52 m hoch.
Er verbindet die Bahnhöfe Aachen-West mit dem großen Güterbahnhof Montzen (B). 80 - 90 Güterzüge verkehren hier täglich in beiden Richtungen.

History:
The Eyneburg is mentioned 1260 for the first time. That the castle is named in common parlance "Emmaburg", goes back to a legend that a daughter of Charlemagne, named Emma, have lived there. This is not historically true and the legend was build in the 19. century.
Originally it was probably established to the protection for the, in the Middle Ages important, Galmei mine. 1897 bought the Aachener cloth manufacturer Theodor Nellessen the castle and builded it into a statley building. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view on the railway bridge of Moresnet.
This viaduct consists of 22 steel boards, double-railed, every is 46 m long. The entire construction is held by two counter bearings and 21 columns. It is 1,100 m long and, by the very different elevation condition of the area, between 23 and 52 m high.
It connect the stations Aachen West with the large goods station Montzen (B). 80 - 90 goods trains operate here daily in both directions.
