"Gorge"ous Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

MainePublisher: All geocache placements must have a responsive owner. The cache owner must be able to respond to issues that come up and to submit an "owner maintenance" log to remove the "needs maintenance" icon.

In addition to the "needs maintenance" logs and DNF logs, Goundspeak also uses a Health Score algorithm. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713

In this case, Groundspeak has sent an email to the cache owner with no response. The cache owner did not respond to any of the cachers hoping to find the cache and did not respond to the reviewer note so the cache is now archived.

The cache location is now open for any Geocacher to place a new cache, including the original cache owner.

Geocache Description:

You will be going to the Grand Canyon of Maine. Plan to be gone for most of the day. It's a tough hike and bring lots of water.

You are looking for an ammo can. The contents are about the same as usual. Bring money for the gate. It cost six dollars per person if you are a Maine resident and nine dollars per person if you are from out of state. For the FTF there is ten dollars to reimburse the gate fee for two people. If you need details on the road and hiking conditions here is the number to the gate: 965-8135. The hike will take you through the Gulf Hagas and Screw Auger Falls loop. It's about eight miles round trip for the loop but you can just get the cache and head back for about 4.5 miles round trip. Park at N 45 28.665 W69 17.112 then at 2/10ths of a mile you have to forge the river. Bring a change of shoes. I would not recommend this for a winter cache. I will also tell you up front that the cache is not on the side of the trail that the gorge is on. This is our first cache placed so be gentle with the suggestions. I would love some tips on making this better and if some one can come up with a better hint please PM me. Thanks, Be safe and use common sense for this cache. It is not located in a dangerous place.
