Geocache Description:

This cache is in the Pilis mountains, close to Budapest, hidden at the panoramic ridge next to the canyon 320 meters above the sea level. If the path is followed the terrain is not difficult for anyone with some experience in trekking.

This cache is placed next to the canyon of the Dera Creek (also known as Kovács Creek). In the canyon there is a short walking path that provides diverse landscape, that is also part of the cross-country National Blue Hiking Trail. The canyon provides you a refreshing cool breeze even in hot summer days. At the end of the canyon there is a parking location that is easy to access from the road connecting Pilisszentkereszt to Pomáz with benches and fireplace. (N47 41.090 E18 55.187) The canyon might also be accessed by public transportation. Use the Suburban Railway (HÉV) to get to Pomáz from Budapest (departure is from the "Batthyány tér" station of the Metro nr. 2) then switch to the bus towards Pilisszentkereszt. A hikers option is to approach it by the National Blue Hiking Trail from Dobogóko or Csobánka. There are some calcars in a less then top shape at the end of the canyon near Pilisszentkereszt unfortunately. It is recommended to approach the cache from the parking place by walking to the other end of the canyon and climb on the small path that leads to the rocks of the ridge. The cache is a general plastic kitchen box of 8x20x10 cm. The box is not in the canyon but at the ridge due to the signal strength and the traffic. Zita and Ákos wish you a good hunting. ATTENTION! Many approached the cache by climbing the canyon walls from the bottom. It is possible, but not recommended due to the inherent dangers it poses. There are many hikers in the canyon when the weather is good and even small rocks falling due to climbing might seriously injure them. On the other hand the cache is easy to approach from either ends of the canyon even when accompanied by children.
