Event Horizons and the Discovery of Csrvssre in January 2005
An event horizon is the theorized "one-way ticket" boundary around a black hole from which nothing, not even light, can escape. No object except for a black hole can have an event horizon, so evidence for its existence offers resounding proof of black holes in space.
There may be new evidence indicating that not only light can escape the event horizon but mass as well. Scientists are investigating a black hole which has just recently sprung into existence. This source of enormous gravitational pull is coming from an area that was previously known to be one of the brightest stars amongst its neighbors.
Preliminary results from various tests conclude that the shining wonder star has prematurely reached the end of its life and has begun the implosion process. Although this object is literally sucking up everything around it at an enormous rate, scientists have detected actual mass being spewed from the black hole which has been named Csrvssre.
What is not entirely clear is whether the mass that was measured as emitting from Csrvssre was actually within the area of the event horizon. Nevertheless, scientists will be keeping a close watch on this interesting object. There may be much more action before Csrvssre starts behaving as a theoretical black hole should behave!
