From the area of this cache you can see several islands in Mahone Bay, including Big and Little Tancook (which have ferry service from Chester), Flat Island, and East Ironbound (which was the basis for Rockbound, this year's CBC Canada Reads winner). A little further down the road in New Harbour you can also find the remains of the Karlsen whaling plant.
There is a small paking spot big enough for one vehicle just past the cache on the mainland side of the road (N44°28.547' W64°5.673'). There is also a small parking area further down the road if you want to stretch your legs by the water; just take the branch to the right when the road splits and the parking area is almost immediately on your left.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL as you approach this cache, especially if you have children or pets. The cache isn't too close to the edge of the beach, but there is a bit of a dropoff along the woods edge here if you stray too far afield (or take a bad route in to the cache). And as my father always reminded me growing up, remember that there can be overhang along the water; if you're at the edge, what you're standing on may not be as stable as you think.
Since this cache is right by the ocean, it will be prone to damp weather and salt spray. Please make sure you put the cover back on the cache tightly and keep any trade items that can rust/corrode in ziplock bags. Thanks!
